Pakistan ended its three-year home Test losing streak by bowling out England for 144 runs in the second Test of the three-match series at Multan, leveling the series 1-1.
Spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan took all 20 wickets in the match, leading Pakistan to a crucial victory. This win marks Pakistan’s first Test victory on home soil since February 2021 and the first under Shan Masood’s captaincy.
Despite resting key players Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah after a heavy defeat in the first Test, Pakistan bounced back with a strong performance. England, chasing 297 for victory, struggled as Sajid and Noman exploited the spin-friendly conditions, reducing the visitors to 125 for 7 before being bowled out for 144.
Noman Ali was the standout bowler in England’s second innings, taking five wickets. Sajid Khan’s brilliant performance in the first innings, with figures of 7 for 111, set the tone for Pakistan’s win.
Before this victory, Pakistan had played 24 Tests at home since 2021, securing just eight wins while losing 12. The Multan win comes after a long struggle on home soil, where Pakistan has faced tough opposition from teams like Australia, Sri Lanka, and England.
With this victory, Pakistan has leveled the series and will aim to secure the decider in the final Test.
