PTI leader Asad Qaiser has accused the government of “abducting” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, from KP House in Islamabad. He warned that if the CM is not presented within 24 hours, PTI will launch nationwide protests.
Qaiser’s statement came ahead of an emergency session of the KP Assembly, which was delayed due to Gandapur’s uncertain whereabouts. Speaking to the press, Qaiser emphasized that this wasn’t just an attack on one individual, but on the entire country. He noted that if this can happen to the PTI, it could happen to anyone.
According to Qaiser, over 1,000 PTI workers have already been arrested, but the party insists on peaceful protests and vows to continue until justice is served.
Amidst conflicting reports about Gandapur’s status, PTI’s spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Saif clarified that Gandapur was not formally arrested, though a heavy police presence was observed at KP House. The KP Assembly session finally commenced after a five-hour delay, with members passing a resolution demanding the CM’s whereabouts be disclosed within 24 hours.
The protests have sparked tension, with the PTI calling for peaceful demonstrations in response to the detention of their leader, and a significant police presence has been deployed to manage the unrest. Meanwhile, the government denies Gandapur’s arrest, stating that he has self-hidden, fueling further speculation and unrest.
Despite the ongoing confusion, PTI leaders remain firm in their demands, vowing to continue protests until they receive clarity and justice for their missing leader.
