Hyundai Nishat Motors is gearing up to introduce the 7th-generation Hyundai Elantra to Pakistan, following the trend set by recent launches like Deepal and BYD. Historically, Pakistan has received new car models several years after their global debut, and it seems the same is happening with the 7th-gen Elantra, which was first launched globally in 2020. However, there’s a twist this time—the rumors suggest that the Elantra Hybrid might be making its debut in the country. Here’s what we know so far.
On August 6, 2024, a 7th-gen Elantra was spotted in the Balochistan region. While Hyundai Nishat Motors did not confirm the sighting, leaked images made their way online, sparking speculation that the car could be the hybrid variant. Although there was no official statement, enthusiasts quickly noted that the model appeared to be a hybrid, adding to the growing excitement.

Fueling these rumors, Hyundai Nishat Motors recently posted a teaser on their official Instagram page. The image of a steering wheel closely resembled that of the 7th-generation Elantra, further hinting that the hybrid model could soon be launched. Prior to this, Hyundai had released other videos suggesting something new was on the way, which many believe to be the Elantra Hybrid.
So far, reports suggest that Hyundai may launch the 1.6-liter hybrid variant of the Elantra in Pakistan. The 1.6L petrol version is already available in the local market, and it’s expected that the hybrid will replace the petrol trim. Internationally, the Elantra comes in 1.6L and 2.0L variants, but it’s likely that the 1.6L hybrid will be the chosen version for Pakistan, offering improved fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness.
Though there’s no official word on the exact launch date, rumors indicate that the 7th-gen Elantra Hybrid might be revealed at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2024, which will take place from October 25-27, 2024, in Lahore. If this happens, the Elantra Hybrid could be available in the Pakistani market by summer 2025.
The growing global demand for hybrid vehicles due to rising fuel costs and environmental awareness makes this an ideal time for Hyundai to bring the Elantra Hybrid to Pakistan. By offering a hybrid option, the company could attract eco-conscious buyers and those looking for better fuel economy.
With all these clues pointing toward a 7th-gen Elantra Hybrid, Pakistani car enthusiasts have reason to be excited.
